Ghostreader is a reading companion. You bring your books, papers, and articles; the app reads alongside you. This policy explains what we collect, how it’s used, and the choices you have.
The short version: your library is yours. We don’t sell your data, we don’t show ads, and we never use the content you read to train AI models.
We do not knowingly collect payment card details — subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store, and we never see your card information.
To deliver these features, relevant text from your library is sent to trusted processors solely to generate a result for you. They act on our instructions and do not use your content to train their models:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Anthropic (via OpenRouter) | Generating chat answers, explanations, and overviews |
| Voyage AI | Creating embeddings so the ghost can find relevant passages |
| ElevenLabs | Read-aloud narration (text → speech) |
| Auth0 | Account authentication |
| Neon | Encrypted database hosting |
| Cloudflare | Application hosting and compute |
We only send the text needed to fulfill the specific request you make.
Data is encrypted in transit, and access is restricted to what’s needed to operate the service. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Ghostreader is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date.
